John Nystrom

John formed Nystrom Electrical Contracting, Inc. in 1977 after serving his apprenticeship in the electrical industry and successfully completing the required exams. John has seen the firm grow from a one-employee company to our current staff of twenty. John also formed M & N Communications in 2002 in response to the ever increasing demand for data and voice cabling, and telephone and voice messaging systems. John currently serves as president of Nystrom Electrical Contracting, Inc.

Robert "Buddy" Cronin — Estimator/General Manager

Buddy has been with the firm since 1984 and is responsible for much of the success of the company. After spending many years in the field providing supervision and journeyman electrician duties, he moved into the office to provide estimating services. Buddy currently utilizes a state of the art program to provide our customers with quality, accurate estimates. Buddy has also provided many years of service to the community as a volunteer fireman and city councilman. Buddy enjoys spending time with his family.

Field Leadership Team:

Robert Haukaas — Lead Journeyman

Robert joined our firm in 1994. Robert works primarily on light commercial projects and excels at conduit work, control wiring, and commercial service work. Robert is currently our lead journeyman for field operations. When Robert gets away from work, he enjoys spending time hunting, fishing or golfing.

Jeff Johnson — Journeyman

Jeff joined our firm in November of 2007 after moving to the Pierre area. Jeff works primarily on small commercial and residential projects. His hobbies include hunting and spending time with his daughter.

Shaun Cronin — Journeyman

Shaun worked for us from 2001 to 2004.  He returned after 6 years during the summer of 2010.  Shaun works on all types of projects.  When Shaun is not hard at work, he is spending time with his family. 

Office Team:


Deann has been a team member since 1994. Deann is our business manager and she also does the accounting for the company. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband John and their children.


Pauline has been a team member since 2004. Pauline handles many of the day to day tasks for the company such as payroll, job costing and accounts receivable. Pauline has been in the accounting field for over 30 years. She also devotes some of her spare time helping the Fort Pierre Fire Department. Pauline enjoys spending time with her husband Gordy, their children, and grandchildren. 


Lisa has been a team member since 2011.  Lisa’s daily tasks include answering the phone, receiving/putting away freight, accounts payable, writing service orders and purchase orders and maintaining the website. In her spare time, she loves hanging out with her family and pets.  When the weather is warmer, she loves fishing, camping and anything water-related.
